Propane Emergency

Learn what to do during a propane emergency.

Propane valve indicating that the shutoff valve should be turned clockwise to close/turn off.Your safety is our main concern!

Propane is heavier than air and can initially collect at low levels (i.e., floors and drains). If you smell propane:

  1. Do not turn anything on or off!
  2. Leave the premises immediately.
  3. If it’s safe to do so, turn the propane tank off.
(To shut off your propane tank, turn the shutoff valve clockwise, or to the right.)
  4. Call our emergency number from a neighbors’ house or other safe location.
